A reverse gear inhibitor comprises a tubular member (12) with a bolt (11) fixed thereto and axially movable on a lever (10) which is displaceable in three shift planes (P1,P2,P3). An inhibitor lock (21) allows the reverse shifting of the lever (10) when the tubular member (12) carrying the bolt (11) is raised for bypassing the inhibitor lock (21). The inhibitor lock (21) is pivoted to a fixed support (22) and subject to the action of a spring (23) which generates a force which tends to distance the inhibitor lock (21) from a path traveled by the bolt (11) during lever (10) handling in the first and second shift planes (P1,P2). |
