A magnetic head (3) reads and/or writes magnetically coded information, on a photographic film (45) with a magnetic coating. At least one film guide (10, 11) is fitted in front of the magnetic head at an angle of 60 degrees maximum to the film transport direction (A). The guide surfaces may be curved or flat, and may have ledges (46, 47) extending below the magnetic head.
