The dirt accommodation chamber (12) is formed as a treatment chamber provided with a flotation device which when activated feeds in clean water. The accommodation chamber is separated by an overflow weir (11) from an adjacent feed-back chamber (13), which like the dirt accommodation chamber is connectable to the water discharge unit. An outflow aperture is provided which is permeable to floating material. The dirt accommodation chamber and the feed-back chamber are arranged in a common vessel (2). The dirt accommodation chamber, at least in the area of its side opposite to the feed-back chamber, is raisable to allow the floating layer to float out.
