The termination device for controlling loads and/or forwarding signals via an external bus (16) has a base module (2) containing a bus coupling unit and a number of expansion modules (3) for specific functions, communicating internally with the base module. The latter has a base microcontroller coupled to the internal bus lines for communication with the expansion modules, each of which has a further microcontroller for management of the control and/or signalling information.
