The method for setting a number of Walsh indexes in a communication system receiver involves determining the energy of each Walsh index present in one Walsh symbol. The determined energy of each index is compared with all other Walsh indexes present in the symbol. Data related to a predetermined number of indexes is stored in parallel with the determination process, for use in subsequent energy determinations of other indexes present in other symbols according to the determined energy. Preferably, the energy of each Walsh index present in one Walsh symbol is calculated. The data stored includes accumulated index energy, accumulated I vectors, accumulated Q vectors and accumulated path history per stored index. |
