The pan pipes comprise twenty two pipes in total which are all made from wood. The density of the wood reduces from the longest to the shortest pipe. The woods for the individual tubes are all different and the woods have different colours. The colour of the pipes change from black (1) which indicates the deepest tone type to brown which indicates the middle tone to white (22) which indicates the highest tone type.
