Immobilising heavy metals, especially radioactive heavy metals

Immobilising heavy metals comprises mixing one part weight of an aqueous concentrate containing 0.01-40 g/l, preferably 0.1-25 g/l and especially 1-15 g/l of heavy metal compounds, with at least 0.5 parts of an ash containing from greater than 5 to 25 wt. % of free CaO and heating the mixture at 30-60 deg C, especially 35-45 deg C for 3-60 minutes, especially 5- 30 minutes.
