The blindstitch sewing machine has a sewing head (14) which can be positioned on a guide (12), fixed to the frame and parallel to the workpiece support surface (26). A workpiece clamp is between the sewing head guide (12) and the workpiece support surface (26), with two clip legs (40,46) on both sides of the movement path of the sewing head (14) and parallel to the direction of travel. The legs (40,46) can be positioned in relation to each other, at right angles to the direction of the sewing head (14) movement.
