<p>At least one face of one or each leaf of an automatic door has an obstacle detector (20) consisting of a movement detector arranged to generate a signal proportional to the relative movement of an obstacle in the spatial detection field of the detector with respect to the corresponding door leaf. A controller is placed to acquire the detection signal generated by the detector for each door leaf and produce a set point signal for door automation, said set point signal representing the relative movement of the obstacle having the slowest movement with respect to door leaf movement. Each movement detector consists advantageously of a Doppler detector which produces a detection signal having a frequency component porportional to the speed of a surface or obstacle moving relatively to the door leaf.</p>
