The invention relates to a brush seal for sealing a gap between a rotor and a stator. Said brush seal has a clamping ring (4) which is concentric to the rotor and the inside (I) of which holds bristle bundles (6). The ends (7) of said bristle bundles protrude to the gap (S), said bundles (6) wrapping around a core ring (5) extending in the interior (I) of the clamping ring (4). The object of the invention is to create a brush seal which allows the bristles (6) to be positioned obliquely in the peripheral direction to compensate radial rotor or shaft movements. The object is attained in that the core ring (5) consists of separating discs (10) spaced from each other by a pitch angle alpha in the peripheral direction, and of winding cross-members (11) around which bundles (6) are wrapped. Said winding cross-members (11) connect adjacent separating discs (10) alternately in such a manner that the bundles (6) are aligned by the oblique positioning of the separating discs (10) in the peripheral direction at an angle beta to the radial (R). Consequently, the bristle bundles (6) can definitely fixed in a predetermined angular direction.
