A program input method for a chip mounter makes a chip mounter program data such as electronic component or electronic component loading position on an Off-Line, and input it. The method does not directly input a step data in a chip mounter, makes a data by using a tablet digitizer on off-line, and input it to a personal computer. The method makes a step data by using a data making apparatus. The step data uses XY-shaft origin coordinates of a printed board, XY-shaft origin coordinates of each board having the same pattern of n, and XY-shaft loading position coordinates being an electronic component position. Then, the method inputs a made step data to a main CPU of a chip mounter through a data transmission medium, converts the made origin coordinates of the printed board to machine origin coordinates of the chip mounter, substitutes chip mounter coordinates for all coordinates of the printed board.
