PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize brightness by easily separating and fixing anisotropic high-polymer materials. SOLUTION: High-polymer layers 5 enclosing a liquid crystal layer 6 are obtd. by polymn. of polynm. precursors exhibiting liquid crystallinity in the state oriented by the orientation regulating force of oriented films 4a, 4b. The regions which exhibit double refractiveness are easily generated by the orientation treatment previously applied on the substrates before polymn. by using the material exhibiting the liquid crystallinity in a polymn. precursor state in such a manner. The high-polymer layers 5 are easily separated and fixed in the oriented state simply by polymerizing and imobilizing the material, by which the formation of the high-polymer layers 5 exhibiting the anisotropy is made possible. The high-polymer layers 5 are provided with the double refractiveness in the oriented state similar to the oriented state of the liquid crystal layer 6 and, therefore, the light transmittance of the high-polymer layers 5 and the liquid crystal layer 6 is approximated and the regions exclusive of picture elements are made bright. |
