PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device effectively damping the vibration of a rotor blade for a rotor assembly while being fitted and removed easily and minimizing the lowering of cooling of the blade. SOLUTION: A rotor blade 12 includes a root 18, an air foil 20, a platform 22 and a damper 24. The air foil 20 includes at least one cavity 40 (42). The platform 22 is extended laterally outward from the blade 12 between the root 18 and the air foil 20, and has the air foil side 45a, the root side 45b, and a hole 49 extended between the root side 45b and the cavities 40, 42. The damper 24 having at least one support face is accommodated in the hole 49 and the cavities 40, 42. The support face of the damper 24 comes in contact with the surface of the cavities 40, 42, and the vibration of the blade 12 is damped by friction between the support face and the cavity surface.
