PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a route guidance apparatus by which a route used to return a vehicle to an optimum route is displayed by computing a direction used to return the vehicle to the optimum route from a present position and setting the direction of a visual line on the basis of the return direction, when the vehicle is deviated from the optimum route. SOLUTION: When a vehicle is deviated from an optimum route, deviation from the optimum route and deviation point are detected, and a return direction to the optimum route is computed. Then, the return direction is set to the direction of line of sight, a display region is computed, and a road map by a plan for the display region is converted into a road map by a bird's-eye view so as to be displayed. The return direction used to return the vehicle to the optimum route is decided in such a way that a vector A1 up to a point a1 on the optimum route from a present position is weighted according to the vector A1, to a vector B up to a destination from the present position and to an advance-direction vector C in the present position. Thereby, the display region around the return direction is found, and a route used to return the vehicle to the optimum route is included inside the display region. |
