PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacture of a cathode for an electron tube which can stably operate under a high current density. SOLUTION: A base body 1, which is welded to a cathode sleeve 2, contains a reduction element, and is composed of nickel as a main component, is arranged in a vacuum device, and a metal layer 4, whose main component metal reduction characteristic is equal to or smaller than that of the reduction element and is larger than that of the nickel, is deposited on the base body 1. Heat treatment is conducted in order to diffuse at least one part of the metal 4 in the metal layer 4 into the base body 1. Further, an alkaline earth metal oxide 6 containing at least barium and an electron emission substance 5 containing at least one kind of rare earth metal oxide 7 are applied onto the metal 4. |
