PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent carrier for electrification from incompletely adhering to a body to be electrified and to obtain stable electrifying performance by controlling the waveform of an alternating current supplied from a magnetic brush to the body to be electrified. SOLUTION: By adjusting the waveform of the alternating current supplied from the magnetic brush 2 as a contact electrifying member to a drum 1 as the body to be electrified, the electrification potential of the drum is set to a desired value after electrification. Namely, the positive and the negative components of the alternating current are separated by using a diode (d), and allowed to pass through a resistor R respectively so as to monitor the alternating current. After the alternating current value is converted to a digital value by A/D converters 81 and 82, it is inputted in a CPU 84. A value Imax being the maximum value in the alternating current data and the alternating current IAC of the positive or the negative component are read and compared with Imax and IAC being target values stored in a ROM 85 as the data by the CPU 84, so that the waveform of AC voltage outputted from a power source S1 is adjusted. |
