PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pharmaceutical preparation useful for treating symptoms and conditions when discontinuing or withdrawing the abuse of a substance of nicotine, an opioid or ethanol or a combination thereof by using a specific pyrimidine-based compound. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical preparation comprises 4- chloro-5-(imidazolin-2-ylamino)-6-methoxy-2-methylpyrimidine or its pharmaceutically permissible salt used therein. The daily dose of the compound when administered is about 0.001-10.0mg, preferably 0.05-0.6mg. Although the compound can directly be used in therapeutic agent, the compound can be used together with a pharmaceutically permissible carrier, a diluent or an excipient. The compound in an amount of about 0.01-99% is contained in the pharmaceutical preparation, which is useful for treating tolerance to a substance such as nicotine, an opioid or ethanol, abstinence symptoms and repetitive self administration pattern, etc., causing anancastic ingesting behaviors.
