PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the apparent deterioration of the filling uniformity of a column after regeneration generated by the use in an industrial scale by using packing matter composed of synthetic granular matter or powder obtained from a polymer soln. containing a specific amt. of filler. SOLUTION: Synthetic granular matter or powder having a particle dimension of 0.1-10mm is used as packing matter for removing a fluid-like, gaseous or dissolved component from process flow. This packing matter is obtained from a polymer soln. containing a filler in an amt. of 5-60vol.% based on the total solid content and composed of a porous and pref. dimensionally stable polymer with the total porosity of 50-95vol.%. When the packing matter is used as an extraction medium, it has pores with a diameter of 0.01-50μm to which an extraction liquid is fixed. When the packing matter is used as a coalescence medium, it has a fine fragile main body/window structure wherein 50vol.% or more has a diameter of 100-700μm. The filler is, for example, a powder of a ceramics substance or carbon or a fiber such as a glass fiber.
