PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability of a device and to ensure stable performance and safety, by housing, in a pressure container, a module formed by assembling a plurality of secondary batteries each comprizing a unit cell which is constructed with a corosion resistant metal and constructed to have a pressureproof/temperature resistant structure. SOLUTION: A secondary battery capsule 11 houses, in a hermetically sealed state, a secondary battery module 13 formed by assembling secondary battery cells 12 in rows and in columns. The unit cell 12 is composed of a solid electrolyte which is made from metal Na and S or a molten salt such as chlorine sulfide and allows Na ions ofβ-alumina or the like to pass therethrough, a positive electrode (or a negative electrode) of carbon group or W group or a junction of the two, and a negative electrode (or a positive electrode) forming a pressure resistant/temperature resistant structure comprizing a corosion resistant metal such as a stainless material, and has an output on the order of 1600wh. The module 13 provides an output of 3300 to 6600kwh by assembling a multiplicity of the unit cells 12. The capsule 11, being made as a pressure container, comprizes a capsule shell plate 14, a capsule end plate 15, and a capsule end plate 16 having a flange 14a and a flange 16a.
