PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method using a thermal development allowable silver halide photosensitive material with a silver image obtained in a short time, lower Dmin due to fog, a high concentration, easy handling under a bright and safe light (a substantially bright room) and a good meshed image. SOLUTION: A silver halide photosensitive material which contains at least photosensitive silver halide emulsion silver chloride content 95mol% or more, hydrophilic binder and water-nonsoluble basic metal compound is laid on a sheet which contains complex forming compound to metal ions constituting basic metal compound, physical development cell nucleus and silver halide solvent, after image exposure or at the same time, and thermally developed under the existance of reducer and water to form a silver image thereon and overlapped on a support body. In this method the halide silver emulsion contains heavy metal selected out of Ir, Ru, Rh and Re, at least 1×10<-6> mol per 1mol silver halide.
