PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high contrast monochromatic image by adding an infrared absorbing substance showing adsorption at a predetermined wavelength of laser and imagewise heating a coloring matter barrier layer to ablate the same. SOLUTION: An infrared absorbing substance is coloring matter present in a coloring matter barrier layer. A coloring matter ablative recording element is irradiated with laser to ablate and melt the hydrophobic coloring matter barrier layer to push aside the same to expose a lower hydrophilic coloring matter receiving layer. When an ink aq. soln. is brought into contact with the element after irradiation, the coloring matter receiving layer absorbs image forming coloring matter preferentially from the ink aq. soln. in the irradiated part and, therefore, contrast difference is generated between the irradiated region and a non-irradiated region. A high contrast monochromatic image is realized by low irradiation quantity and a negative image system can be obtained. |
