PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an unknown compound which is useful as a fluorescent pigment for measuring reticulocytes and maturation index of reticulocytes in the field of the clinical laboratory tests. SOLUTION: This objective compound of the formula (R1 is H, an alkyl; R2 and R3 are each an alkyl or an alkoxy; R4 is an acyl, an alkyl; R5 is an alkyl which may be substituted; Z is S, O or a carbon atom replaced with alkyl groups; n is 1, 2; X<-> is an anion) is mixed with a polyvalent anion for inhibiting nonspecific staining of red blood cells such as sulfate ion, a reagent for staining reticulocytes comprising buffering agents and a haemological specimen to give a reagent for measuring the reticulocytes. The pH of this reagent is preferably 6.0-11.0 and a cationic surfactant such as lauryltrimethylammonium chloride is preferably used as a staining accelerator. As a light source for measurement, is used a small-size red semiconductor laser to carry out the measurement using the red wavelength. |
