PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a superconducting magnet from damages at the time of quenching by amplifying the detecting of the magnetic quenching of a first circuit section and using the amplification by a second circuit section when a pilot superconducting switch becomes resistive. SOLUTION: Partial magnetic quenching in a superconducting-magnet coil assembly 112 is detected as voltage unbalance. Since a pilot-switch resistance heater section 126 is operated, a pilot-switch superconducting wire section 120 is triggered, and an operation mode is changed from a superconducting operation mode to a resistance operation mode. Consequently, thermal pulses are generated, and the whole superconducting-magnet coil assembly 112 is heated quickly and uniformly. Accordingly, damage to the coil assembly by partial quenching can be prevented. |
