PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide member to prevent the change of size, such as thickness, due to friction even when the slide member is used for a long time by providing a matrix having rigidity and sliding properties and swelling material dispersed in the matrix and swollen by means of a swelling agent. SOLUTION: A well characteristic slide member is assembled as a slide joint to the hook joint of the propeller shaft of an automobile by using a thrust washer 1. In the hook joint, a roller 5 is radially equipped through a seal member 4 between a cross shaft 2 made of a steel iron and a bearing material 3 made of a steel iron, and the thrust washer 1 is located in a given gap C the thrust direction of which is closed. Grease serving as lubricant is located in the gap C, and the roller 5 and the thrust washer 1 are lubricated by the grease. During use, the oil content 0 with a diameter of severalμm of grease makes contact with the thrust washer 1, and the grease is held by a recessed part 1a and radiation grooves 1b. This constitution effects suitable lubrication.
