摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reduce the manufacturing cost by forming each wing of cruciform control rod so as to include a vertical extension structural member and a horizontal extension structure member, defining a plurality of individual partition chambers, and arranging a neutron absorbing material in each partition chamber. SOLUTION: Around a tie rod 30 at the center of a cruciform control rod 26, wings 28 crossing at right angles each other are arranged. The wind 28 is formed of a plurality of vertical extension structural members 32 laterally spaced, and therebetween a structure member 34 parallelly extending in the horizontal direction is arranged. The member 32, 34 form plural partition chambers 36a to 36c mutually spaced laterally is formed in each wing 28. A plurality of capsules 40 containing therein a neutron absorbing material such as boron carbide powder is arranged in the chambers 36a to 36c. Only the required welding for this structure is to weld the members 32, 32 to each other, and attaching a cover 38 to the tie rod 30 and then to weld the members 32, 34 to each other, thereby largely reducing the welding quantity.
