NONREFLECTION TERMINAL PART OF COATED OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonreflection terminal part of the coated optical fiber which can be manufactured at low cost in a short time and improved in the reliability of nonreflection characteristics by preventing air bubble formation in a refractive index matching material. SOLUTION: The tip side of the jacket layer 2 of the terminal part of the coated optical fiber having the jacket layer 2 formed outside an optical fiber is removed to specific length to form an optical fiber exposed part 1, which is covered with a pipe 3 so that the tip surface of the pipe 3 is positioned in front of the tip surface of the optical fiber exposed part 1; and the refractive index matching material 4 in a set state which has a refractive index nearly equal to that of the core of the optical fiber is charged in the pipe 3, and the tip surface consisting of the pipe 3 and refractive index matching material 4 is polished slantingly at a tilt angleθ<=82 to the axial direction of the pipe 3.
