[Also in Division F2] Synthetic plastics tubular sections of various sizes are extruded by a variable-stroke ram 2 connected to an operating piston 9 by a lever 6 pivoted between a pair of fixed brackets 12, the stroke being varied by adjusting the pivot axis along the lever and along the brackets. As shown the pivot is provided by pins 22 projecting from a saddle 23, Fig. 2, adjustably secured, through a toothed connection 25, on the lever 6, the pins 22 rotating in sleeves 15 adjustably secured in inclined slots in the brackets. The sleeves 15 have flats engaging the slot walls and have toothed flanges engaged by toothed clamping bars 19. In a modification the toothing on a sleeve 15 is engaged by a rotatable worm coupled through articulated shafts and bevel gearing to a second worm engaging teeth on the saddle 23 so that the two adjustments may be effected simultaneously by rotation of a hand wheel. Material is fed to cylinder 1 via passage 30 from a screw feed (not shown).
