PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the whole size of a starter contactor with an electronic control circuit and the number of part items in a starter so as to omit some electrical connecting wires. SOLUTION: A contactor 10 is provided with a cylindrical annular outer shell 14 fitted with a coil 16 for axially moving a movable core 12. The movable core 12 acts upon a control rod 31 piercing the center part of a fixed core 22 of a dick part 24, and the control rod 31 axially moves a movable contact part 54. A cylindrical barrel-type hood 32 forms a housing 38 jointly with a skirt part 36, and the movable contact part 54 is provided in the housing 38. An electronic control circuit 76 for the contactor 10 is provided with a support part 78 such as a printed circuit board, and circuit parts, and the electronic control circuit 76 is provided in a cavity 42 of the hood 32 of the contactor 10.
