The invention relates to a tubular steel profile with a high degree of rigidity, toughness and deformation work as an impact carrier for reinforcing the door of a motor vehicle, in particular of a passenger vehicle. In order to develop a tubular steel profile which, while using a cost-effective steel alloy and existing production devices which are customary for the manufacture of circular tubes and while observing the required mechanical values, has a lower weight and is suitable for installation even in narrow vehicle doors, it is proposed that the tubular steel profile (1) has a portion (6) which extends longitudinally with a cross-section which deviates from the circular shape and a bent outer contour whose longer axis of extent is at least 20% longer than the shorter axis of extent which is perpendicular thereto. …<IMAGE>… |
