<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary brake control device which eliminates the necessity for applying an excessive load to a connecting element in an automatic transmission in a shift down speed change in an engine brake condition using an exhaust brake. SOLUTION: Excessive engine brake torque, by continuously applying braking force output from a retarder 13 through during a shift down speed change, is prevented from being input to an automatic transmission 12. A retarder control device 33, prior to a sift down speed change, calculates braking force according to the shift down speed change and a permissible connection load of a connecting element in the automatic transmission 12, and braking force corresponding to engine brake torque exceeding the permissible connection load is output from the retarder 13. Even when displacement of an engine 11, body weight and braking power of an exhaust brake 23 are different, a connection load of the connecting element in the automatic transmission 12 can be properly arranged, so that a common automatic transmission can be utilized in a broad vehicle kind.</p> |
