An incinerator consists of a housing with two parallel copper plates (12, 13) which act as electrodes and are mounted on columns (16) with springs (17). The plates are situated on the front face of the housing with the outer plate able to move relative to the inner one and made with orifices for inserting the instruments to be destroyed. One of the orifices is in the shape of keyhole, with a lower narrow section to ensure that a needle inserted into it is in constant contact with the moving electrode as it is moved towards the fixed one. The outside of the housing has a switch for the power supply, positioned as far as possible from the electrodes to avoid accidental pricking as the needle is being inserted.
