The electronic guidance module (1) is in a box that can be placed on the dash board of the motor vehicle. The box has an alphanumeric display (2) on its front face, and a number of control keys (30-34). The electronic circuit inside the box provides drivers for the display, response to the control keys, and external communication to gather data. Local parking data is stored in the box. The local data can be updated remotely, either by radio communication or direct connection to the box. The data is provided by a central data server coupled to the communication links. The keys allow the user to select zones in the town, and parking data associated with this zone scrolls across the display till the user stops the scrolling.
