A refrigerating device including a pressure-sealed container (1) lined with an adsorbent material (2) and further including an adjustable-calibre valve (7) with a bore communicating both with the inside of the container and with the environment, and means (5, 6) for temporarily connecting said container to a pressurised source (10, 11) of a gas that can be adsorbed by said adsorbent material. The device may be used in refrigerated garments or portable refrigerators.
