Mechanism for opening spent oil filter boxes

In holding and cutting region (20), the oil filter boxes (10) are guided into a holder for clamping. A cutter makes a peripheral cut through the box cylindrical jacket. The feed conveyor (1,3) is pref. fitted with circulating cages (2) into which the filter boxes are insertable. The conveyor has an ejecting position at an ejecting plate (11) for the boxes to be fed to the holding and cutting region in a defined position. Below the ejecting position is fitted a drop shaft (5) extending into a laterally opening outlet throat.
