Miniature decanting centrifuge

The miniature decanting centrifuge has a drum with a conical section, a screw conveyor extending longitudinally therein, and a feed pipe (18) for the suspension which projects into the drum from the end opposite to the conical section. A drive arrangement includes a motor (36) whose drive shaft (46) is fitted with pulleys (39, 40) to drive the drum and the screw conveyor respectively. The pulleys (39, 40) are toothed. The screw conveyor is connected to one of the motor pulleys (39 or 40) via toothed pulley (41) and a toothed belt (42), whilst the drum is connected to the other motor pulley via a toothed pulley (38) and toothed belt (35). The numbers of teeth on the pulleys (39, 40) on the motor shaft and the transmission ratios are selected so that not only the desired speeds for drum and conveyor respectively but also the desired speed difference between them are achieved.
