Booth multiplier for calculating product of two operands

The multiplier calculates the product of a first and a second operand. The multiplier includes a data memory (104,106,108) for loading and storing the first and second operands. A Booth encoder (110) forms and accumulates Booth partial products of the two operands. It also has a device for product accumulation to form the product of the two operands from the accumulated Booth partial products. The different components of the multiplier are clocked by means of a clock signal. A clock signal control is provided. This provides a clock release signal when one of he components is active. A clock generator device is responsive to the clock release signal. The clock signal control supplies a clock blocking signal when one of the components is inactive so that the clock signal is interrupted.
