The holder has a clamp (2) securing the skid of the overhead travel wire (1) engaged by the current take-off, which can be displaced vertically within an outer housing (3). The vertical movement of the clamp is controlled by a spring element (4) contained within the housing, together with a damping element for damping the movement of the clamp. Pref. the damping element and the spring element are provided by a combined spring/damping element, the clamp having a clamp hoop with a transverse threaded pin (7) and a cooperating clamping nut (8).
