An editor (18) outputs a time code sensing command to a terminal (12), and the terminal (12) multiplexes the time code sensing command into a transmission packet and sends the packet to another terminal (42) through a communication network (30). The terminal (42) receives the packet and sends the time code sensing command to another VTR (46). The VTR (46) outputs the audio and video data and time code data to the terminal (42) in accordance with control data. The terminal (42) multiplexes the audio and video data and the time code data inputted from the VTR (46) into a transmission packet and transmits the packet to an editing system (10).
