Double battery charger for nickel-metal-hydride or lithium-ion types e.g. for portable radios

A double battery charger has a battery connector (30) with several terminals suitable for nickel/metal hydride or lithium/ion batteries, a charger (10) and a controller (20) which determines the type of battery and the temperature. Then it sets the charging voltage and current accordingly. The power source goes to a constant current device(11) and a constant voltage device (12) which supply the battery. The terminals on the battery connector are the usual positive and negative ones, plus one for the temperature plus one to determine which type of battery it is. In the temperature measurement, a normal range is between zero and forty degrees centigrade.
