Refuse vehicle with exchangeable collector and compactor for waste

The vehicle has a collector (9) which has a filling orifice (21) for accepting material from the orifice (19) of a compactor (3) when mounted and pushed together on the vehicle frame (1). An exchangeable adapter (23) is attached between the collector and a compactor. A framework of members is attached to one of them. The framework is bolted at the corners with a choice of holes so as to be adjustable in size. The compactor can be chosen to suit the particle size and loading characteristics of the source of the waste. The adapter is configured, possibly mechanically from the cab, to connect the filling orifice of a standard exchangeable collector to the orifices (19) of various compactors.
