摘要 <p>An apparatus and method for enhancing the resolution of an Emission Computed Tomography image in a nuclear camera system that is configurable to perform both Positron Emission Tomography and Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography imaging is disclosed. The apparatus includes a crystal (81) that interacts with gamma rays to create scintillation events within the surface of the crystal (81). The gamma rays that impinge the crystal (81) have an incident angle that is limited by a field of view of the crystal (81). Positioned behind the crystal (81) is a detector (80) that responds to the light photons released by each scintillation event and registers a coordinate value of each scintillation event. Coupled to the detector (80) is a resolution enhancer that generates an in-crystal plane displacement correction value for each coordinate value registered by the detector (80). The in-crystal plane displacement correction value is then combined with the coordinate value to compute the actual entry point of the gamma ray into the crystal.</p>
