摘要 The operating method has the anode and cathode spaces of the fuel cell (1) respectively supplied with a gas which is rich in hydrogen and with a gas which contains oxygen, with fuel and water supplied to the reaction space of a reformer (2), for generation of the hydrogen rich gas via endothermic steam reformation. In one operating mode, the heat energy for the steam reformation is obtained by oxidation of the fuel cell gases in the combustion space (10) of the reformer and in a second operating mode, additional fuel and oxygen is supplied to the reformer reaction space. The switching between these operating modes is effected in dependence on the temp. in the reformer, the loading characteristic and/or the hydrogen content of the gas from the anode space.
