Electrical leakage current circuit-breaker

The leakage current protection stage has the incoming power wires (1, 2) connected to a detector (3) with a primary winding that monitors the difference in current. The secondary winding connects (5, 6) with a latching relay (7) that controls a switch lock (8) to allow opening and closing of supply contacts (9, 10). A mains independent energy storage stage (12) provides energy to operate the contacts. When a powerful enough leakage effect is present the stage applies sufficient force to open the contacts.
