<p>The machine consists of a shield (6) with toothed radial cutting arms in front of it on a central rotary shaft. The arms divide the shaft in breaking, drilling, compression and softening zones, a partition and a mixing zone. The earth in the compression zone (7) is softened by injecting it with a liquid under high pressure before removal through ports (17). The liquid, containing boron additives, is injected through lances (9) at a pressure of between 100 and 500 bars, and hydraulically-driven augers (15) are used to extract the softened earth.</p> |
