A chuck has radially adjustable jaws 10, screw-threaded manually rotatable spindles 7 which are interconnected by gears 6, 21 for mutual and simultaneous operation of the jaws 10, and hydraulically operated means comprising a piston 28 which actuates pivoted levers 15 to apply or release clamping pressure on the jaws through thrust members 22, the latter being arranged to engage grooves 8 in the spindles 7. The chuck body 1 is internally screw-threaded at 2 for attachment, e.g. to a mandrel. The gear 21 may be removed to allow for independent adjustment of the jaws.</p> |
