PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a contrast, etc., and to allow transistors(TRs) to maintain a normal operation by completely shielding the light to be casted to the TRs as liquid crystal display elements and absorbing the scattered light within the device. SOLUTION: Light absorption walls 6 consisting of electrical insulators consist of reflection electrode partition parts 6a and liquid crystal partition parts 6b. These reflection electrode partition parts 6a are so formed as to fill the gaps 5a formed by the end faces at the respective peripheral edges of one of the adjacent reflection electrodes 5 and the other of the reflection electrodes 5. The liquid crystal partition parts 6b are so formed as to project upward while covering the peripheral edges on the front surface side of the respective reflection elements 5 from the gaps 5a. The light absorption walls 6 are formed by spin coating with photosensitive resins, such as polyimide and PVA, dispersed with black coating materials and patterning the coatings by photolithography. |
