PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device with which a phase transition operation is stably executable without sacrificing the operability to open and close a panel as far as possible. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with an image forming mechanism including a fixing device 6 within a casing having the openable and closable panel 2. This fixing device 6 is provided with a phase transition layer consisting of a material transferable in phase between a crystalline phase and an amorphous phase on the outer peripheral surface of a fixing roller 9. The temp. rise of the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller 9 is accelerated by the heat energy generated at the time of the phase transition from the amorphous phase to the crystalline phase by heating. The image forming device described above has a panel opening prohibition means for prohibiting the opening of the panel. This panel opening prohibition means prohibits the opening of the panel 2 during the phase transition operation between the crystalline phase and the amorphous phase of the phase transition layer. |
