PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance color forming sensitivity to a large extent by adding an aminobenzenesulfonamide derivative to the thermal color forming layer of a thermal recording material as an org. coupler and adding a sulfone compd. thereto as a sensitizer in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal color forming layer containing a basic leuco dye and an org. coupler as main components is provided on a support, an aminobenzenesulfoneamide derivative represented by formula I is added to the thermal color forming layer as an org. couple. Further, at least one kind of a compd. represented by formula II or III is added as a sensitizer in an amt. of 0.01-2 pts. per one part of the coupler represented by the formula. In the formula I, X is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, Y is a 1-6C lower alkyl group or an electron withdrawing group and R is a phenyl group or an aralkyl group. In the formula II, R<1> and R<2> are a halogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group and, in the formula III, R<3> and R<4> are a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkoxy group. |
