发明名称 Conveyor-driven filing or storage apparatus
摘要 1,025,789. Filing papers. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. July 10, 1964 [July 22, 1963], No. 28530/64. Heading B6E. In apparatus for filing papers &c. in trays on movable carrier shelves which can be brought to a working position by a motor-driven conveyer, each shelf has a tray-retaining device which is released only when the shelf is opposite the working position. As shown, the apparatus is housed in a cabinet having a work-table 35 which can be adjusted vertically to one of two working positions, and a vertically slidable front cover 36. Carriers 31 having shelves 32, on each of which a number of filing trays 33 is placed, are carried on two endless chains 44 which can be driven by a motor so that the carriers can be raised or lowered, and the carriers are supported and guided so that they remain horizontal even when passing around the sprocket-wheels 48, 51 on which the chains 44 are mounted. A flange 43 secured to the front end of each carrier shelf 32 has several inclined slots 71, and has mounted thereon a U-shaped strip or lip 72 which is retained on the flange by studs 76 which engage the slots 71. A tension spring 77 is attached at one end to the side of the carrier 31, and at the other end to the nearest stud 76, so that the strip 72 is urged upwardly of the flange 43 by virtue of the inclined slots 71 and studs 76 and retains the trays 33 in position on the shelf 32. Means for lowering the strip 72 when a shelf is opposite the work-table 35 in either of the two working positions, so that the trays can be removed, comprises end lugs 83 on the strip 72 which can be engaged by plunger plates 109 which can move the strips to the left (Fig. 6) and thus depress the strips. Fig. 6 shows two plungers 109 acting on the top and the bottom carriers, respectively, which are in the two working positions. The plungers 109 are slotted to receive studs 118 which engage inclined slots 119 in a vertical bar 117 which can be raised and lowered by crank mechanism operated from a motor 130: thus, as the bar 117 reciprocates vertically, the plungers 109 reciprocate horizontally. The motor which drives the chains 40 is reversible, and supplied with direct current, and the motor 130 is unidirectional and supplied with alternating current. The bar 117 has three spaced abutments 136, 137, 138 which operate switches 140, 141, and the left-hand lugs 82 on the two strips 72 of the two operative carriers 31 can also operate switches 156, so that the carriers can be located at their respective positions. If a tray 33 is partly on the table 35 and partly on the shelf 32 of a carrier, it prevents the strip 72 of the shelf from rising (and consequently moving endwise), and this disables the control circuit and prevents the chains 40 being driven. Any selected tray can be brought opposite the table 35.
