The loader has a conveyor with a pick-up drum (4) provided with controlled prongs and fitted onto support rollers or wheels. The axles of the side support rollers or wheels (14) are arranged in a vertical plane at least partly in the rotary axis of the pick-up drum. At at least one end of the pick-up drum, a controller, comprising a control track and levers, can pivot the prongs fixed onto bearers. The support rollers or wheels are radially adjustably located on the rotary axis of the pick-up drum. They are also fitted on an adjustable eccentric ring (19) fitted on a bearing (18) fixed to a frame (16) connected to the vehicle frame.
